Happy Birthday

,

I truly cannot believe one year has already passed since the birth of Maura and Brody. It really does seem so long ago that I was in the hospital which is definitely a great thing. Today, March 31, 2009, was a wonderful day at home. We played all day, and Maura and Brody napped really well. We are leaving now to go get a small cake to celebrate the day because I never found the time to bake one! I just wanted to post their birthday picture from last year with this year's pictures! My skills are not good enough to capture both together since they are moving so much.

Happy Meal

Maura and Brody had their first McDonald's happy meal. They both devoured the chicken and little of the french fries. We plan not to visit too often, but I did want to give them a birthday treat.

First Birthday Party

Saturday, March 21 was the celebration for Maura and Brody's first birthday. I had a friend come over to take the pictures for the day, but I did manage to get a few myself. Of course, she took all of the action shots with the birthday cake!

Maura and Brody each had their own smash cake. Brody went face first into his cake. Maura was a little unsure at first, but she eventually took a bite out of the cake.

March 2009

Aunt Angela came to visit on her days off this week. It was so warm outside that Maura and Brody got to enjoy some wagon rides with Angela. We had a great time and are ready for her to come back.

Maura already thinks she is the one in charge of Brody. You can see her pushing him in the first picture, and she is almost grabbing his neck as if to choke him in the second. Of course, Brody is just as calm as can be, and Maura is the one upset! She really is my sweetpea despite her dominating personality that is developing.

Eleven Months Old

This time last year I had no idea it would be another month before meeting Maura and Brody, but I am sure glad they did not come any sooner than March 31. These eleven months have completely flown by, and I just hope I have captured enough video and pictures of all the milestones we have experienced. Maura and Brody continue to develop very unique personalities, and they are steadily increasing their interaction with one another. Before long they might be communicating in their own twin language!

Can you see a little of Maura's personality here?

These two pictures were taken when Maura and Brody both had ear infections last week. After a week of meds and being inside, Maura and Brody were ready to play. I just loved both of their smiles in these photos.

Haircuts for Two

Our first haircuts

For the past couple of weeks people have been stopping me and commenting on my cute little girls. I promise Brody was NOT dressed like a girl at all, but he did have some long wavy hair. So... it was time for his first haircut. I know he has not turned one yet, but I was getting upset with people asking if he was a girl. There are still a few waves on top, but they are not nearly as long as before. He just sat and ate some goldfish while I snipped his curly hair. Of course I could not leave Maura out, so I snipped her long rat tail! Maybe I was concentrating on doing a decent job or was just mad enough that people thought Brody was a girl, but I was not emotional in the least at cutting their hair. I did save a few curls though!

Another first....Oreos

Brody and Maura had so much fun eating an oreo cookie the other day. Maura took little bites and barely made a mess at all. Brody shoved the entire cookie in his mouth right away. Of course neither one of the two left any crumbs for Chatham to clean up!
